Up Boys.

Lives are in the making here.

Hearts are in the waking here.

Mighty undertaking here.

Up and on……

Up boys, truest fame,

Lies in high endeavors.

Those words are part of the school anthem for my high school. We sang this song daily during the morning assembly.

When you sing a song every day. You get numb to the words of that song. Our brains have a clever way of blocking out repetitive tasks. What are the tasks that you do every day? Driving to work, for example. Because you do this every day, you do not notice the beautiful flowers or walkways sometimes. You subconsciously stop at the stop sign or make that left turn.

Up boys, truest fame,

Lies in high endeavors.

It is today that I get the meaning of that line in what was a long school anthem.

In a career life that’s laced with decision-making every day. From the simplest decision of waking up in the morning (at 5 am) to getting onto a zoom call on time, to volunteering as a club officer at your local club, and to making a financial contribution to a common cause like a friend’s wedding or an emergency.

“Up boys, truest fame, lies in high endeavors.”

These daily simple decisions are life’s truly high endeavors.

These daily simple decisions are life’s truly high endeavors.

What high endeavors are you a part of today?

Up boys,

Truest fame,

Lies in high endeavors.
